Welcome to the NGO Resource Centre Newsletter for December 15 - 30, 2008.

There's not a great deal to report as we head towards the end of 2008, with no major development-related events taking place. However, the NGO RC would like to remind our members and friends to take a look at a new report available on our website, which was coordinated by the centre entitled Forms of Engagement Between CSOs & State Agencies in Vietnam. See the members section for more details.

There is one working group meeting coming up in the next two weeks: the Disaster Management Working Group will meet at 1.30pm on January 6 at the NGO RC.

Welcome to the NGO Resource Centre Newsletter for November 15 - 30, 2008.

First off this week, with the end-of-year Consultative Group (CG) Meeting approaching soon on December 4-5, the NGO RC has begun preparations for the drafting of the INGO Statement, which is is distributed to all participants during the event and compiled in relation to the different sessions of the draft CG agenda. It forms the basis for input from the three INGO Representatives at the meeting, who are elected by INGO members of the NGO RC. In news this week, the Government of Vietnam is currently in the process of implementing various reforms and changes to the legal system of Vietnam, which is intended to complement and facilitate development in other sectors. Two interlinked resolutions on legal matters have been launched, which form the key basis for the legal reform: Resolution 48 (Strategy for Development and Improvement of the Vietnam Legal System up to 2010 and Vision up to 2020) and Resolution 49 (Judicial Reform Strategy).

Welcome to the NGO Resource Centre Newsletter for September 1 – 15, 2008.

This week, the NGO RC would like to introduce the upcoming activities of a new initiative being launched through the centre - the ICT for Development Working Group (ICT4DEV WG). Having already developed a terms of reference (available at http://ngocentre.org.vn/node/7105), the group has been busy developing an activity plan for the rest of the year, which includes a series of workshops that will address various aspects of using ICT for development-related purposes. The workshops will be free and split into three different sections:

1. WEB 2.0
2. Communications Technology
3. Building websites

First off this week, the People's Participation Working Group (PPWG) is continuing its activities related to the implementation of Decree 151/N?-CP that was adopted in October 10, 2007 by the Prime Minister on the establishment and operation of collaborative groups, in particular in relation to the recent release of implementation guideline 04/2008/TT-BKH adopted on July 9, 2008 by the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI).

Welcome to the NGO Resource Centre Newsletter for July 1 - 15, 2008.

First off this week, the NGO RC Climate Change Working Group held an NGO Capacity Building Needs Assessment Workshop on Climate Change on July 1, in order to develop a capacity building programme tailored to the needs and interests of Vietnamese and international NGOs. More than 100 people attended the event, which provided an opportunity for participants to contribute to determining the priorities and content of a series of climate change capacity building events, and to learn and share about existing knowledge and skills among NGOs. The NGO RC will distribute further documents and minutes from the workshop as soon as they are available.
