Authorities in Vietnam central province of Ha Tinh have begun construction of a water supply system worth VND3 trillion ($140.84 million) in the Vung Ang Economic Zone in Ky Anh district. The system includes a water reservoir with a daily capacity of 162.4 million cu.m on Rao Tro River, Lac Tien dam, an irrigation work and a clean water supply plant with a daily capacity of 340,800cu.m. Once completed by June 2014, the system is expected to provide adequate water for firms at the Vung Ang Economic Zone and local residents. Vung Ang EZ attracted a total of nearly $12 billion from foreign- and domestically-invested projects as of July 11, 2011. Many big projects are accelerating their paces, including Taiwan Formosa group’s Son Duong port complex with the first phase worth $7.9 billion, Vung Ang 1 thermal power plant valued at $1.56 billion and a five-star hotel worth $78.6 million.
