Vietnam is estimated to have recorded 18,800 hungry families in Aug, with 84,900 starveling people, down 38.6% and 34.3% on year, respectively, the government’s General Statistics Office (GSP) said.
Most of the households are mainly in rural remote mountainous provinces, central coastal areas and central highlands region. The government and organizations at all levels have provided nearly 16,900 tons of food and VND9.2 billion ($442,300) for the needy people so far this year, including 400 tons of food in July.
