Vietnam’s health sector expects to receive further supports from the World Bank (WB) to improve its capabilities in health management in the coming times, Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien said. The minister made the statement at a recent meeting in Hanoi with the WB delegation led by Emmanuel Jimenez, Sector Director, Human Development, in the WB’s East Asia Region. At the meeting, the two sides agreed to speed up WB-funded health projects. The WB also pledged to set up project list framework for better implementation. The WB has started training courses for medical workers in some nations to help them share professional experiences. The WB, which is among the biggest donors for Vietnam, has earmarked around $2.6 billion in official development assistance (ODA) for Vietnam this year and also announced to fund over $6 billion for the country in the 2011-2013 fiscal years.
