Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training disbursed an estimated VND26 billion ($1.24 million) of state funding for its projects in February, down 36.6% from January, said the government’s General Statistics Office (GSO). In the first two months, the ministry disbursed VND67 billion of state funding for its projects, down 5% from the same period last year and meeting only 10.6% of the whole-year target. Vietnam aims to disburse VND625 billion worth of state funding for education projects this year. Economists have recently warned of low disbursement of projects in the education and training sector. They also called on the government to work out measures to attract more investments in the sector. (GSO Feb Edition)
