Vietnam is among the countries with the highest infertility rates globally, with 50% of cases occurring in individuals under 30, according to the latest report from the World Health Organization (WHO).
This data was presented at the fifth Scientific Workshop hosted by the Hanoi Andrology and Fertility Hospital on September 22.
In Vietnam, around one million couples experience infertility each year, accounting for 7.7% of the population. Male infertility contributes to 40% of cases, female infertility accounts for another 40%, 10% are due to both partners, and 10% have unknown causes.
Speaking at the event, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Quang, president of the Vietnam Society of Sexual Medicine and director of the Andrology Center at Viet Duc University Hospital, noted that the 10% of cases with unidentified causes pose a significant challenge for doctors and researchers in finding effective treatments.
During the workshop, experts exchanged insights and focused on the challenges in diagnosing and treating male infertility, providing a comprehensive view of current treatment practices. They also discussed and proposed effective treatment solutions.
