The U.S. Atlantic Philanthropies organization (AP) will fund $7 million to help improve healthcare services in Vietnam’s southern province of Ca Mau under an a signed agreement on the aid, the Thanh Nien newspaper reported Feb 22. The $14-million project, which is slated for completion in 2013, focuses on improving infrastructure for medical clinics under the provincial primary healthcare system. Many local clinics will be built and upgraded with an aim to provide better healthcare services for local residents, an official from the provincial People’s Committee said. Earlier, the U.S. AP and Family Health International (FHI) pledged to improve health services in the northern port city of Haiphong, under which the project costing $120,000 focuses on improving community health services for people who abuse drugs in a bid to help them return to normal lives.
