The central province of Thua Thien-Hue has built 10 centers that provide health care and vocational training for disabled children suspected of being infected with Agent Orange (AO)/dioxin. The information was released on April 2 by the provincial Association of Victims of Agent Orange /dioxin during its congress to review operations in the 2008-2013 period and outline tasks for the next five-year term. The province has regularly opened classes in some primary schools to help handicapped children integrate into the community, said the association’s President Nguyen Dang Doan. In addition to the State’s support for AO victims, the association has mobilized resources from domestic and foreign organizations and individuals to help them, he added. According to Doan, in the coming tenure, his association will focus on developing its network of district and communal-level branches and admitting more members. It will work with relevant agencies to raise funds for the victims while providing health care and jobs for them and overcoming environmental impacts caused by dioxin. Founded in 2004, the Thua Thien-Hue Association of Victims of Agent Orange /dioxin now has 60 communal-level branches with thousands of members. (vietnamplus.vn April 3)
