Thanh Hoa Province has set itself a target of reducing the number of poor households by at least three per cent a year on average so that the rate of poor households in the province will be less than 10% by 2015. At a conference organized in Thanh Hoa Province on Oct 10 to review the National Target Program on Poverty Production for the 2006-11 period and set tasks until 2015, the province reported that the lives of residents in poor districts and communes have improved significantly over the last six years. Last year alone, nearly 35,000 households came out of poverty lowering the province's poverty rate to 20.37 per cent. (Vietnam News Oct 12)
