Taiwanese Buddhist charity organization Tzu Chi gave gifts of notebooks and others to 146 students from poor families in Ho Chi Minh City's Binh Tan and District 6 Sunday.Each child also received VND700,000 ($33.5) in cash, a pencil case, a pair of environment-friendly steel chopsticks, and a piggy bank.The piggy banks are to encourage the students to save as well as help other kids, the charity organization said.Tzu Chi, meaning "compassionate relief," is a non-profit organization founded in 1966 by Dharma Master Cheng Yen.It now has a presence in more than 59 countries, and its activities span charity, medicine, education, and spreading humanistic culture.
