Temasek Foundation from Singapore and Vietnam’s central city of Danang July 26 signed an agreement to enhance state officials' capabilities in preparing an urban transport system. The program was given a grant of more than SGD915,000 (nearly $760,000) by Temasek Foundation with the City of Danang co-funding about VND4 billion with extracted money from a World Bank sponsored infrastructure investment fund. Under the one-year program, Temasek Foundation, along with the Singapore Co-operation Enterprise (SCE), will share Singapore's experience in transport planning with Danang. In particular, the program aims to provide advice for capacity building. It also will assist the city in understanding the benefits and challenges facing sustainable urban transport development and hopes to optimize transport efficiency. The program will also build leadership skills and capacities for government officials in transportation planning and management functions. Six training courses will thus be organized for the city's transportation officials. The program is to be implemented from September to the end of June, 2012.
