The Vietnam Fund for Promoting Education on Tuesday signed a co-operation agreement with Vietnammobile to establish a scholarship fund worth VND5 billion ($240,000). A total of 500 scholarships, each worth VND2 million ($96), will be presented annually to prominent students from poor families attending 35 universities nation-wide in five consecutive years from 2011. The Vallet Scholarship Fund on Tuesday also granted 226 scholarships worth VND1.4 billion ($67,000) to excellent students of ethnic minority background in the central region, in co-operation with the Rescontres du Vietnam organization.
