Some 14,886 victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin and disabled people remain in need of rehabilitation.The figure was released in a seminar on community rehabilitation for victims of Dioxin, a chemical used by U.S. troops during the Vietnam War, held on December 3rd in Hanoi by the Health Ministry, with the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.In 2008-13, the community rehabilitation project will be carried in three provinces of Thai Binh, Quang Ngai and Dong Nai. Beneficiaries will be those involved in the resistance war and their relatives exposed to Agent Orange/Dioxin.The project has so far provided services and knowledge of rehabilitation to these three provinces, built up and trained a network of community health workers, and examined 6,670 victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin and the disabled.Also under this project, some 7,600 victims have been rehabilitated at home, while 343 other victims have received operations or rehabilitation at hospitals.
