As many as 10,000 doses of oral cholera vaccine manufactured by the Company for Vaccine and Biological Production No1 (VABIOTECH) under the Ministry of Health (MoH) will be exported to the Philippines, according to the company’s Director Do Tuan Dat. Dat said experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) will revise the quality of the vaccine in order to include it in the global vaccine stockpile. In Vietnam, about 200,000 doses are used every year under the national expanded immunization program to prevent cholera in vulnerable areas, he added. Vietnam is able to produce 12 different types of vaccine for 10 out of 12 diseases covered by the national expanded on immunization program. In the coming time, domestic vaccine manufacturers will focus on researching and developing multifunctional vaccines, according to the Department of Pharmaceutical Management. (Vietnam News Jan 1)
