The International Labor Organization is assisting Vietnam in launching a project on improving labor relations in several cities and provinces in the 2014-2017 period. The project aims to build a relations system that conforms with the 2012 Labor Code and the 2012 Trade Union Law, as well as improve the relationship between employers and workers. It will be implemented in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, the northern port city of Haiphong city and the southern provinces of Dong Nai and Binh Duong between 2014 and 2017, and will be expanded to other localities in the 2017-2020 period. The ILO, other international organizations and nations have funded millions of U.S. dollars to help Vietnam carry out many labor relations projects over the past years.
Vietnam is, however, facing many critical industrial relations issues, including low minimum wage, dispute prevention, labor strike, overtime payment, migration, female employment and cross-cultural management. (www.vietnamplus.vn [1] Mar 31)
