Civil servants and health staff working in the high-risk fields of healthcare services will get extra job allowances from this August 19 in a move to boost staff numbers by the government. Under a newly-issued prime ministerial decree, beneficiaries are health workers in the fields of HIV/AIDS, leprosy, tuberculosis, mental illness, forensic examination and pathology, emergency aid, intensive care, border quarantine and food safety. Health workers will get a salary rise equal to 70% of their wage, compared to only current 20%.
“The decree is expected to encourage more medical workers to work in difficult and high-risk areas,” Tran Duc Long, head of the Ministry of Health’s Legal Department, said.
The money for the extra allowance will come from the state budget. (Vietnam News July 15)
