A bomb exploded in Phong Dien District, Thua Thien-Hue Province causing the fire that destroyed five hectares of forest in the area. Mr. Nguyen Dai Vui, Chairman of Phong Dien District, on May 1st, said that the reason for the forest fire on April 30th in Vinh Nguyen Village, Phong Dien District was the explosion of a bomb left after the war. Mr. Vui said that after a bomb exploded causing the fire, the fire-fighters were deployed immediately. However, when the fire fighters approached the site, two other bombs exploded and make the fire spread quickly. Fortunately, the explosions were far from the fire-fighters so that none of them were injured. The fire was put out later as Phong Dien People’s Committee sent more rangers, soldiers and local people to clear the area, preventing the fire from spreading further. (www.qdnd.vn [1] May 2)
