Since 2009 the northern province of Bac Kan has invested over VND 65 billion with nearly VND 30 billion from the community to support the building of 2,601 houses for poor families, including 2,447 ethnic minority families. The information was announced during a meeting to review the housing for the poor project. Mr. Hoang Ngoc Duong, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said that the province had made the program a reality based on decisions by the Prime Minister who strongly supports housing for the poor schemes.
