Health experts from Australia and the U.S. will provide training on diabetes treatment to Vietnamese doctors in the next three years, Australia’s leading healthcare company Sanofi said at a recent seminar in Melbourne. Under the scheme, 1,500 Vietnamese doctors will be trained for 3 years. The program, designed by the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and the Society of Endocrinology - Diabetes Vietnam (VADE), aims to equip Vietnamese doctors with advanced medical knowledge and practical skills to control diabetes. Sanofi’s Senior Vice President Pierre Chancel said that the program shows the company’s strong commitment to helping diabetic patients in emerging economies, including Vietnam. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thy Khue, chairman of the Vietnam Diabetes and Endocrinology Association, said that Vietnam is among countries worldwide with the highest growth rate of diabetes patients with five million affected people or 5.6% of the national population, but 60% remain undiagnosed.
