The Ministry of Construction said that the country had completed the provision of housing support for over 350,000 among 512,475 selected families during the implementation of a decision by the Prime Minister on supporting poor families with housing. This information was given during a meeting on May 24 by the central steering committee on housing policies and real estate market, in order to enhance housing support for poor families in central and Central Highlands regions. According to the steering committee, the houses built account for 68% of the program which lasts from 2008 to 2012. The housing completion rate is estimated at 94% in 62 poor districts of the countries and 97% among Khmer poor families in central region. Meanwhile, nine provinces of Ninh Binh, Quang Ninh, Bac Ninh, Lao Cai, Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen, Lam Dong, Dak Lak and Dak Nong have completed the program. To ensure progress of the construction, Mr. Nguyen Tran Nam, Deputy Minister of Construction and deputy head of the steering committee asked localities to speed up the program, to be completed in 2011.
