More than 6,000 young doctors from around the country will take part in a massive medical screening campaign for poor and elderly people in all 63 provinces and cities on May 18. The young doctors, volunteering to assist with community health following uncle Ho’s teachings, will provide free examination and medicines for over 100,000 people and perform eye surgeries on 1,000 older people. They will also train 5,000 teachers in 700 kindergartens and primary schools in first aid and donate around 13,000 units of blood. To buy medicines and gifts for the elderly and poor people at the screening organized by the Vietnam Youth Federation and Viet Nam Young Physicians Association, companies and others have donated more than VND10 billion ($474). At a press conference in Hanoi on May 13, the organizers said there will be an official event to mark the campaign at the Tan Trao historic site in the northern province of Tuyen Quang.
