Quang Ngai International General Hospital JSC have proposed to stop building an international general hospital with a total investment of VND880 billion ($42.11 million) due to difficulties during the implementation, especially capital shortage. Located on a site of 5 hectares in Quang Ngai city, the 500-sickbed hospital, which was kick-started in June 2010, is expected to become the most modern of its kind in the province, state media reported Mar 29. The Cho Ray-Quang Ngai International General Hospital was scheduled for become operational in 2012. Local authorities have urged relevant agencies to check assessment and work related to the project as well as only allowed using the land lot for the construction of medical units. Vietnam now has 13,600 state and private-owned hospitals with 172,500 sickbeds. However, the current facilities show signs of overload due to the rising demand.
