FHI 360 is an international non-governmental organization that, in Vietnam, promotes the health and well-being of the Vietnamese people, particularly vulnerable and marginalized populations. It works with the Vietnam Ministry of Health and other national bodies, as well as provincial and district-level health services to achieve project aims. FHI 360 is currently implementing programs to address HIV prevention, testing, and treatment; combatting trafficking in persons; tuberculosis case finding and treatment; clinical research; anti-microbial resistance; health system strengthening; non-communicable diseases; maternal and child health and nutrition; and diagnostic and laboratory services.
The Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) project is a five-year, global project funded by the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). EpiC Vietnam’s goal is to deliver efficient, affordable, results-based technical assistance and direct services in HIV and COVID-19. EpiC is seeking a qualified and highly motivated Vietnamese candidate to serve as a Technical Officer, Quality Treatment for the HIV team, based in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City.
Main responsibilities:
Technical Support (40%)
- Support people living with HIV to access and remain within the HIV services network.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of trainings and technical materials that advance HIV treatment outcomes.
- Navigate health staff through challenges to HIV service provision.
- Provide virtual and in-person technical assistance.
- Contribute to national conversations on treatment best practices.
Administrative Support (30%)
- Monitor performance against clinical outcomes included in project subawards.
- Support the coordination of the HIV quality treatment team.
- Translate technical and clinical documents from Vietnamese to English and English to Vietnamese.
- Build and maintain effective partnerships within the project and with partners.
Knowledge Strengthening (~15%)
- Develop manuscripts, presentations, and other knowledge products promoting successes, lessons learned, and knowledge gained to advance the global HIV response.
- Respond to ad hoc requests related to areas of technical expertise.
Provincial Response Team Lead (~15) for One Province
- Serve as internal expert of provincial data across the HIV cascade for assigned province.
- Track progress against provincial continuous quality improvement (CQI) priorities
- Brief internal, donor, and external leaders on provincial needs and results as appropriate.
Experience and abilities for the position:
- Medical doctor or advanced degree in public health; at least two years professional experience
- Knowledge of the Vietnamese health system, international donors, and/or HIV a plus
- Professional experience working with people living with HIV, men who have sex with men, transgender persons or other vulnerable populations preferred
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide array of organizations
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Vietnamese
- Willingness to learn new knowledge and skills
- Ability to travel as needed
