The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) has been implementing a GEF/UNDP-funded project entitled “Environmental Remediation of Dioxin Contaminated Hotspots in Viet Nam” since May 2010. MONRE implements this project in close collaboration with the Ministry of Defense (MOD) and people’s committees of three provinces: Dong Nai, Da Nang, Binh Dinh. The project aims “to minimize disruption of ecosystems and health risks for people from environmental releases of TCDD contaminated hotspots”. This will contribute to the broader Goal, which is “to overcome the consequences of toxic chemicals used in the war in Viet Nam”.
Three expected outcomes of the project are: (i) Dioxin in core hotspot areas (Bien Hoa airbase, Da Nang airbase, and Phu Cat airbase) contaminated and remediated; (ii) Land use on and around hotspots eliminates risks and contributes to environmental recovery; (iii) Strengthen national regulations and institutional capacities.
To achieve outcome 1, the project is providing support to the government to develop an Overall Plan for dioxin Remediation in Bien Hoa airbase (The Plan). The overall plan will include overview situation of dioxin contamination in hotspots, its purpose, concerted actions, development of logical framework and so on.
To support the completion of the Plan, the Project is now looking for qualified candidates to fill in the following 05 positions:
