EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN PUBLIC HEALTH
FHI 360 is an international non-governmental organization that, in Vietnam, promotes the health and well-being of the Vietnamese people, particularly vulnerable and marginalized populations. It works with the Vietnam Ministry of Health and other national bodies, as well as provincial and district-level health services to achieve project aims.
FHI 360 is currently implementing programs to address HIV prevention, testing, and treatment; combatting trafficking in persons; COVID-19; tuberculosis case finding and treatment; anti-microbial resistance; health system strengthening; maternal and child health and nutrition; and diagnostic and laboratory services.
The Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) project is a five-year, global project focused on HIV, global health security, and combatting trafficking in persons using funding from the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief and the United States Agency for International Development. EpiC is seeking a qualified and highly motivated Vietnamese candidate to serve as the Deputy Director, based in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City.
This individual will report to the Project Director and oversee the technical operations of the project’s portfolio.
Main responsibilities:
Technical Leadership (~60%)
- Supervise multidisciplinary technical teams, ensuring technical excellence, clear roles and responsibilities and lines of communication; provide supplemental management to their reports.
- Manage leaders in various technical interventions including health information systems, monitoring and evaluation, data use for decision making, and global health security and provide technical leadership in the design, implementation, and monitoring activities in HIV and other infectious disease threats.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of data to PEPFAR, USAID, and FHI 360 systems.
- Ensure the project meets international best practice standards and incorporates emerging evidence.
- Lead technical inputs to annual work plan and ad hoc implementation/action planning.
- Oversee the development of technical protocols, standard operating procedures, guidance, research, abstracts, and presentations.
Representation and Portfolio Management (~40%)
- Serve as acting Project Director in the absence of the Director.
- Represent EpiC to USAID, the Government of Vietnam, FHI 360 headquarters and other stakeholders.
- Facilitate cooperation between stakeholders to achieve project aims.
- Ensure technical interventions comply with U.S. government regulations and requirements and FHI 360 policies and procedures.
- Align technical needs with available project funds.
- Engage in business development efforts.
- Contribute to organizational development efforts to ensure a collaborative and innovative team.
- Perform other relevant duties as requested.
Experience and abilities for the position:
- Master’s degree in public health, medicine, or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience, with demonstrated experience in managing complex health and development projects, ideally in HIV and/or global health security.
- Thorough understanding of relevant Vietnamese government policies and regulations concerning HIV and other infectious diseases.
- Ability to work well with teams, implementing agencies, government counterparts, and USAID or other international donor(s).
- Well-developed written and oral communication skills in Vietnamese and English.
- Ability to travel up to 40%.
