Overview of the Position:
The USAID Sustainable Forest Management Project will help the Government of Vietnam reduce carbon emissions associated with deforestation, the degradation of natural forests, and poor plantation management. SFMA will implement a “Green Prosperity” approach that strengthens local communities’ ability to protect their natural resource base and reduce emissions while building a strong foundation for sustainable livelihoods and equitable economic growth.
SFMA will work in seven provinces and focus on five activities:
- Strengthening community forest management.
- Promoting conservation-friendly enterprises.
- Improving law enforcement to tackle environmental crimes.
- Enhancing the management of production forests; and
- Mobilizing domestic resources.
The Administrative Officer cum Translator is a key member of the Operations team. He/She will provide support in daily project operation including administration, office management, HR, and in project events. He/She will also provide translation service for project documents including but not limited to incoming & outcoming letters, technical documents, etc and consecutive interpretation at meetings, workshops, seminars as required.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Administration tasks
- Supports the daily administrative operations of the project.
- Support Office & HR Manager in LTTA and STTA recruitment.
- Support logistic preparation and implementation of project events.
- Support Office & HR Manager in file management process in Tamis and Sharepoint.
- Other tasks as assigned by Office & HR Manager and/or Director of Operations.
Translation and interpretation tasks
- Translate project documents from Vietnamese into English and vice versa.
- Review and ensure quality of documents translated by outsourced vendors.
- Provide consecutive interpretation service for the Chief of Party and technical staff at meetings, workshops, seminars, etc. as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- University degree in English language, business administration or related field.
- Five years of working experience, in which experience relevant to translation and interpretation from Vietnamese to
- English and vice versa is preferred.
- Experience in administration is an asset.
- Good Interpersonal skills.
- Active, enthusiastic, careful, good skills in working individually and in a team, desire to acquire new knowledge.
- Strong in MS office.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with foreign funded projects, especially USAID projects preferred.
