Vietnam will receive 1.2 million doses of A/H1N1 vaccines from the World Health Organization (WHO) despite of suspects of the flu pandemic, state media reported Jan. 12, citing a health ministry official. Deputy Head of the Vietnamese Ministry of Health Trinh Quan Huan said that the ministry will ask the WHO to confirm global criticisms today and help Vietnam to prevent the disease, Huan said.
Though the epidemic did not develop as complicatedly as forecast, Huan admitted, cautioning that prevention and control activities should be paid with due attention because the virus’ changes in the future are erratic.
The swine flu has killed 53 people in Vietnam.
Head of the ministry’s Department of Science and Training, Truong Viet Dung, said that the ministry has spent VND100 billion on buying Tamiflu materials, producing vaccines and treating patients since the A/H5N1 and H1N1 broke out.
