Quang Ngai International General Hospital JSC began the construction on Quang Ngai-Cho Ray International General Hospital worth VND880 billion ($46.32 million) June 26. Located on a site of five hectares in the central city of Quang Ngai, the 500-sickbed hospital, will be outfitted with modern technology meeting the European standards. The facility is expected to become the first of its kind in the central region once operational in 2012, the Tuoi Tre online newspaper reported June 27. At the ground-breaking ceremony, the investor also donated VND300 million to the provincial fund to help Agent Orange/dioxin victims and poor children. Vietnam now has 13,600 state and private-owned hospitals with 172,500 sickbeds.
