The Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang has so far allocated a total of six hectares of land to 1,500 ethnic minority households, the Nhan dan newspaper reported. The province has spent VND33 billion ($1.7 million) on providing vocational training for 1,475 rural laborers and buying agricultural machines for 4,439 poor families. Soc Trang expects to provide land for all poor ethnic households by the year-end.
