Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) handed over 20 houses to Xe Dang ethnic people in Vietnam’s central highlands province of Kon Tum July 15. The beneficiaries from Tu Mo Rong district’s Dak Na commune were hurt by landslides and floods in September 2009, the Van Hoa newspaper reported July 19. VNPT donated a total of VND25 million and local authorities granted VND5 million to each household for the construction of such houses. Local authorities are taking drastic measures to evacuate locals at the high-risk of being hit by possible landslides to cope with the forthcoming flood season.
