The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and authorities of Dien Bien province have signed a record of discussion on a $5.5 million sustainable forest management project in Vietnam’s northwestern region. The project will encourage participation of local farmers and help them raise incomes from other sources, instead of unsustainable forest exploitation, the Thoi Bao Kinh Te newspaper reported May 28.
