Authorities of Ho Chi Minh City spend VND1 trillion ($52.57 million) to upgrade infrastructure of hospitals each year, the Gia Dinh & Xa Hoi newspaper reported, citing the municipal Department of Health. The information was released at a conference to review the three-year implementation period of Decree No 43 which has been carried out in all of public healthcare facilities in the metropolis. HCM City has spent VND4.5 trillion to a project to build four hospitals since 2007 to reduce the overloads, head of the department Nguyen Van Chau said. Currently, the municipal hospitals admit more than 34 million patients for treatment a year with 40% of them coming from other southern provinces, Chau noted.
