Authorities of Vietnam’s capital city of Hanoi have approved a project worth of VND202 billion to prevent landslides along the Hong (Red) River, the state-run Vietnam News Agency said June 02. The city’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is assigned to implement the project right in 2010. Of the total, VND140 billion will be used to prevent landslides in Dan Phuong district’s Tho An commune and the rest for Minh Chau commune in Ba Vi district. Earlier, the city also gave a nod to spend nearly VND80 billion on building an 4-kilometer embankment along Day River’s section that stretches from Vien An, Dong Tien communes to Van Dinh township in Ung Hoa district.
