The German government will finance EUR7 million for the AKIZ project to build wastewater treatment facilities in industrial zones in Vietnam from now up to 2014, said participants at a kicking-off ceremony in Can Tho Mar. 24. The project will be piloted in the Can Tho-based Tra Noc IZ, where 128 enterprises discharge directly 12,500 cu.m of untreated water a day, which seriously damages the surrounding environment. AKIZ is a joint research project by scientists from the German University of Written’s Institute of Environmental Engineering and Management and seven universities and institutes of Vietnam.
