More than 100 people in Vietnam’s central province of Binh Thuan were hospitalized on June 10 due to food poisoning. The victims reportedly suffered from symptoms of stomachache, vomiting and diarrhea after having a meal at a restaurant in the Suoi Cat tourism resort. Local health taskforces took the food sample for testing to find the poisoning cause, the Cong An Nhan dan newspaper reported June 11. Vietnam reported 20 food poisoning cases in May, killing ten people and affecting 704 others, the Ministry of Health said. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimated that the Southeast Asian country loses VND340 billion ($20 million) a year on the issues.
