Up to 8.2 million Vietnamese suffer from food poisoning and related diseases a year, the Lao Dong newspaper reported Wednesday, citing the World Health Organization. When debating the draft law on food safety Wednesday, lawmakers raised concerns about the quality of food and foodstuffs which fail to meet hygiene and safety requirements, causing the poisoning. The draft law stipulated that the Ministry of Heath must bear responsibility for food safety issues.
