Up to 81.6% of children aged 4 to 8 in Vietnam are suffering from tooth decay, a survey conducted by the Odonto-Maxillo-Facial Training Institute under Hanoi Medical University showed. The institute conducted the survey in the provinces of Lang Son, Thai Binh, Binh Thuan and Tien Giang and Hanoi, the Quan Doi Nhan Dan newspaper reported April 5. Among the interviewed children, 16.3% got perpetual decay, 25.3% lose teeth and 90.4% have teeth problems, the survey noted, explaining carelessness among parents are attributed to the situation. Truong Manh Dung dean of the institute recommended parents should teach their children how to clean teeth in the morning and at night to avoid tooth diseases.
