More than 77% of Vietnamese workers cannot find steady jobs, state media said, citing a survey by the Vietnamese Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Feb. 26. They are having seasonable jobs for small households and only 23% of the country’s labor forces can find steady employments, the survey showed. In line with international standards, the majority of Vietnamese workers are categorized as “vulnerable” groups, the ministry raised its concerns. The International Labor Organization (ILO) says high vulnerability among labor forces are attributed to high poverty rates around the world, including Vietnam. ILO and the Vietnamese ministry conducted the survey between 1997 and 2007, and the statistics of which remain fairly reliable for now as the labor structure of the country has not changed much.
