Save the Children in Vietnam (SC) works to promote every child’s rights to survival, protection, participation and development as set forth in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. The current programme focuses on the following core sectors: Health and Nutrition; HIV/AIDS prevention; Care and support; Education; Child protection; Child-focused emergency preparedness and response; Child rights agenda, including Civil society development, Economic opportunities, Child poverty Research, and Advocacy for child-friendly development policy and practice.
They are now seeking for a short-term consultant for Rapid Assessment of Environmental Education through Child Participation Project
Scope of works:
Determine the current status of:
child participation level to issues related to them and to environment;
Knowledge and awareness on environment of students and people in community existing issues on environment in project site;
Information needs of people in local area
Suggest:
children and community driven solution to address the issues;
effective way for Information Communication Education/ sharing.
Assessment location: 10 secondary of Yen Binh district, Yen Bai province.
Key accountabilities
Design draft platform and make plan for assessment;
Develop assessment tools to ensure objective achievement (including qualitative and quantitative findings);
Set up assessment group. Train for assessment group on data collection method;
Conduct assessment in field. Coordinate members of assessment group to ensure the effectiveness
Analyze date and result of assessment; Write and submit a final report in English.
Person specification
University degree and above (on education, environment)
Experience/ knowledge of participating in assessment, survey in community on environment and child participation
High team work spirit. Good English and Vietnamese written skills.
Terms and condition:
Contract duration: 15 days include preparation, conducting assessment in field, analyzing data and writing report
Starting date: ASAP or by 11 August 2009
