WWF in UK, Denmark, U.S. Aspire to Boost Environment Ties with Vietnam

The World Wildlife Fund branches (WWF) in the United Kingdom, the United States, and Denmark are willing to further cooperate with Vietnam in the environment sector, said officials.

The information was unveiled at the recent meeting between Vietnamese Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Dang Quoc Khanh and senior officials of the WWF branches in the UK, Denmark, and the U.S. on the sidelines of the COP28 in Dubai.

The foreign officials vowed to closely coordinate with Vietnam in mobilizing green finance to serve the country’s sustainable development goals, such as equitable energy transition, biodiversity resource promotion, and the development of biodiversity conservation areas and national parks.

They also looked forward to introducing a financial mobilization platform for climate change adaptation for vulnerable areas, such as the Central Truong Son and Southern Truong Son regions of Vietnam.

Besides, the officials committed to contributing to the joint efforts of Vietnam and the world to build a prosperous society with high resilience to environmental pollution and climate change through regional, cross-border, and transnational projects focusing on experience and technology-sharing activities.

For his part, Minister Khanh proposed the nations support Vietnam in some issues of nature-based solutions, plastic pollution, water resources law, and the national strategy on biodiversity conservation.
