World Bank Wants to Support Vietnam to Fulfill COP26 Commitments
The World Bank wishes to support the Vietnamese government in realizing commitments at the 26th UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) by developing a roadmap for the clean energy transition, said Zayra Romo, senior energy specialist and the World Bank Vietnam Infrastructure Program Coordinator.
Ms. Romo made the statement at a working session with Deputy General Director of state utility Vietnam Electricity (EVN) Nguyen Tai Anh in Hanoi on January 29.
At the event, Ms. Romo informed EVN about the cooperation contents between the two sides in the coming time, especially the list of the World Bank-backed programs and projects to prepare for the World Bank chair’s working session with the Vietnamese government in March.
She also updated information about the proposal to amend the government’s Decree 114/2021/ND-CP on the management and use of official development assistance (ODA) capital and concessional loans from foreign donors; the project to strengthen renewable energy integration systems; and other technical support projects for offshore wind power development.
For his part, Mr. Tai Anh expressed his hope to receive more assistance from the World Bank in terms of financial resources and policy advice in the future.
