WHO Vows Continued Support for Vietnam

The World Health Organization (WHO) is proud to be a trusted partner of the Vietnamese government and people and pledges to maintain strong coordination and support for the country on its journey to bring a healthier, safer, and more prosperous life to all Vietnamese, said WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

The WHO chief made his statement in his congratulatory video to Vietnam’s health sector on October 5.

He said he is very proud to witness the changes in medicine and health care in Vietnam over the past decades. Since 1945, the country’s life expectancy has increased by many years, with significant reductions in preventable diseases, polio eradication, and the containment of diseases like malaria, HIV, and tuberculosis.

Vietnam has also expanded its health insurance system and addressed risk factors for non-communicable diseases.

Recently, Vietnam has also shown its capacity to respond strongly to the COVID-19 pandemic, including comprehensive and quick vaccinations and priorities for the most vulnerable groups. (Suc Khoe Doi Song, Vietnam Plus, Thoi Dai, QDND)
