WB Expects to Continue Supporting Vietnam in Energy Transition
The World Bank (WB) expects to continue assisting Vietnam in energy transition projects, especially those in hydropower and pumped storage hydropower, floating solar and offshore wind power in the northern region, a representative has said.
The WB’s Regional Vice President for East Asia and Pacific (EAP) Manuela V. Ferro made the statement at a meeting with Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien in Hanoi on November 14.
She expressed her wishes to accompany Vietnam in the implementation of the National Power Development Plan (PDP) VIII and build programs to aid Vietnam in completing its target of 100% residents accessing stable electricity.
For his part, Mr. Dien stressed the Vietnamese government has encouraged the private economic sector to join the power sector, based on the principles of healthy competition and ensuring harmonious interests of investors.
He proposed the WB continue partner with the Vietnamese side to provide the electricity to rural, mountainous and island areas. (Cong Thuong)
