WB Director Affirms More Aids for Vietnam Next Years

The World Bank (WB) will provide more official development assistance (ODA) for Vietnam with its expectation in the coming years, the Victoria Kwakwa, WB Country Director in Vietnam said.
“Vietnam has become a middle-income country and it can easily access credit loans from International Bank for Restructure and Development (IBRD); however we will expand aids for the Southeast Asian nation”, Kwakwa added.  The WB has satisfied with its projects in Vietnam but the satisfaction is not enough, she noted, emphasizing that Vietnam and WB have to make great efforts to gain better results in the further. The official also disclosed that WB will help the Vietnamese government to get more international funding to cope with the climate change which attracted interests from many participants at the on-going CG meeting. By end-August, the WB provided a total of $9.83 billion in ODA for 92 programs and projects in the Southeast Asian country. The WB pledged $2.498 billion in ODA for Vietnam this year and also announced to finance over $6 billion for the country in the 2011-2013 fiscal years. (Dau tu – Investment Dec 8 p3)
