WB to Add $29.5M to Environmental Sanitation Proj in Central Vietnam
The World Bank (WB) has agreed to provide an additional $29.5 million loan to help continue a sub-project to improve environmental sanitation in Vietnam’s central province of Quang Binh, a WB representative said. An agreement to this effect will be signed in mid-May and the additional loan will take effect in August 2011. The sub-project is part of a $160-million project funded by the WB to improve environmental hygiene in three central coastal cities of Nha Trang in Khanh Hoa, Quy Nhon in Binh Dinh province and Dong Hoi in Quang Binh province. The project is slated for implementation in the 2006-2013 period, focusing on building systems of tap water supply and flood control, wastewater collection and treatment facilities. After an overall inspection, the WB has asked local authorities to speed up the disbursement of funding with $17.5 million targeted this year. Earlier, the global bank also approved to add $14.5 million loan to a sub-project on environmental sanitation improvement in Nha Trang city. (Thoi Bao Ngan Hang – bank Times May 13 p10)
