VND70B Targeted for Agent Orange Victims
The Vietnam Red Cross (VRC) has set a target to raise VND70 billion ($3.4 million) for Agent Orange (AO) victims during Action Month for AO Victims 2011, which will run from August 10 to September 10.
There will be a variety of activities throughout the month aimed at raising public awareness of the effects of AO on humans and the environment, promoting State policies for AO victims, and gathering financial support. The VRC hopes to assist more than 70% of AO victims across the country through both humanitarian and livelihood support. The Action Month marks the 65th founding anniversary of the Vietnam Red Cross (November 23, 1946-2011) and 50 years of the spread of Agent Orange over Vietnam (August 10, 1961-2011).
