VND5B Fund to Help Poor Kids Enjoy Tet Holiday
The program Gau Do gan ket yeu thuong (Gau Do to connect love) which will raise VND5 billion to help poor children welcome Tet (Lunar New Year) early next year was launched on Nov 15 at the Duxton Hotel in HCMC’s District 1. The program was organized by Gau Do instant-noodle brand of Asia Foods Corp., Vietnam Association for Protection of Children’s Rights (VAPCR) and Thanh Nien newspaper. At the ceremony, Gau Do brand contributed VND1 billion to the program and called on the community to join hands to help disadvantaged children.
“From now until January 20, for every Gau Do instant-noodle packet sold we will donate VND10 to the charity fund,” said Pham Trong Bao Chau from Asia Foods Corp.
“If we don’t reach our target of VND5 billion, Gau Do will contribute the rest of the money to help the children,” Chau added.
According to Dang Viet Hoa, deputy Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien newspaper, the organizers expect to donate gifts and cash worth VND500,000 each to around 10,000 children in 20 poor districts nationwide including Tan Bien (Tay Ninh Province), Gia Rai and Hoa Binh (Bac Lieu Province), Nui Thanh (Quang Nam Province), Quang Xuong (Thanh Hoa Province), Nhon Trach (Dong Nai Province) and Xuyen Moc (Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province).
