VND43B to Help Poor People’s Housing

In the third quarter of 2011, the southern province of Hau Giang will build 2,105 houses for the poor with an expected total capital of VND 43.7 billion. The building will be carried out based on a decision from the Prime Minister on supporting the poor with housing. Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper reported that over the past two years, the province has built 3,456 houses for the poor and disbursed a capital of VND70.6 billion, accounting for 98.93% of the total capital allocated. Each house has been assisted with VND12.2 million while each poor family is allowed to borrow VND8 million from the Bank for Social Policies for each house that is on an area of between 32-36 square meters. In the fourth quarter, the province will continue to assist the building of 731 houses for poor families, completing the implementation of the decision with a total number of 6,292 houses built.
