VND33 billion to Support AO Victims

The Prime Minister approved a VND33 billion ($1.6 million) project on July 22 to help Agent Orange (AO) victims in Central Highlands provinces and the south-eastern province of Tay Ninh in the 2011-2015 period. The project targets raising public awareness about the consequences of dioxin and caring for and supporting its victims through medical care and vocational training. The project aims to provide orthopedic surgery and functional rehabilitation for 2,500 AO victims and vocational training for 3,000 households with AO victims to improve their standard of living. Ninety medical workers, officials and volunteers will be trained in rehabilitation and health care techniques to support AO victims with severe disabilities. (www.nhandan.org.vn Jul 28)
