Vietnamese Students Win Gold Medal at 2023 World Invention Creativity Olympic

Eight Vietnamese students from Giang Vo Secondary School in Hanoi City have won gold medal at the 2023 World Invention Creativity Olympic (WICO), state media reported.

Especially they won the Grand Prix Award, the highest prize in the competition, for “Research on a model of heavy metal-contaminated water treatment using filter materials combined with microorganisms in root system.”

The two other projects by Vietnamese students competed at the Olympiad were (i) a “Study on extracting biologically active substances from avocado leaves to make dietary supplements for patients with gastric ulcer caused by Helicobacter pylori” and (ii) “Research on making preparations to treat household plastic waste.”

This year, the 12th WICO was held in South Korea on July 27-29, with contestants from 27 countries. (Tien Phong, Lao Dong, Bao Quoc Te, Lao Dong Thu Do)
